Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) Overview

The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) is the principal agency responsible for overseeing disaster management efforts across the state of Himachal Pradesh. Established under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, HPSDMA's mandate includes formulating policies, guidelines, and plans to enhance resilience and reduce the vulnerability of communities to various hazards, including earthquakes, landslides, floods, avalanches, and other natural and man-made hazards. The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) was notified vide notification No. Rev. D(F) 4-2/2000-V dated 1-06-2007. The hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh is the ex-officio Chairperson of the HPSDMA. The Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh is the Chairperson of the State Executive Committee (SEC), which assists the HPSDMA in the performance of its functions and to coordinate action in accordance with the guidelines laid down by State Authority and ensure the compliance of the directions issued by the State Government under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The Principal Secretary, Revenue to the Government of Himachal Pradesh is the Member Secretary of the HPSDMA. The Director-cum-Special Secretary, (Revenue-DM) heads the Disaster Management Cell which is resposible for all the programmatic interventions and coordination related to disaster management in the state. #ResilientHimachal
