HRW is a “Fourth Party Logistics” (4PL™) company.
A “4PL” is in effect a consortium of companies brought together to offer all the capabilities required in a particular market situation, in this case for O&G players based in Holland, Germany and the UK.
HRW, as a 4PL, consists of HRW as the 4PL Manager and three “3PLs”, each with particular capabilities: Reym, Den Hartogh and Wagenborg Nedlift.
Each of these 3PLs has an equity holding in the overall 4PL Manager (i.e. HRW) which is binding the consortium together – along with agreed KPIs and profit sharing arrangements.
HRW is an umbrella entity acting as a management company, selecting certain 3PLs to join the consortium based on their specific capabilities and manages each of them as a single entity when interfacing with clients, just like other selected companies (mostly 2PLs)acting as subcontractors to execute the Services provided by HRW.
