I Am A Girl, usually referred to as ‘the Community’, is a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on the comprehensive development of vulnerable girls aged five (5) to eighteen (18), through forms of traditional and non-traditional programmes, of which they are not accustomed, and heavy emphasis on mentorship through the philosophy ‘Reach One Teach One’.
It was founded with the mission to inspire, empower and provide opportunities for young girls to lead and create positive change in the world. Generally, we contribute to the overall growth of girls in Barbados, and aid in the development of some, who may have been exposed to social challenges, in many forms.
Since officially commencing our work in 2014, we have impacted upon more than two hundred (200) girls directly, and fifteen hundred (1,500) youth across Barbados. Based on our mandate, we continue to create opportunities to expand upon our reach.
