Founded in Brisbane in 2007, our mission remains the same as on day one; it is to provide support, care and assistance and consideration, where needed for the Irish Australian community in Queensland. Irish Australians of all backgrounds, faiths and traditions are welcome, without exception. We are against discrimination of any kind. Throughout the year we will host & sponsor many different events, functions, networking opportunities etc. to bring the Irish Community together both here in Brisbane and wider Queensland Our mission is to provide appropriate and valued assistance to the Irish Australian Community in Queensland. We want to make sure the Irish community in Queensland, feel supported in times of isolation, vulnerability and crisis. As well as our people of all ages are connected to their culture and heritage. IASAQ is responsible for supporting the community in multiple ways including: - Elderly assistance, including nursing home visits. - Family and personal services; - Personal support; - Health Services, including mental health care; - Social and welfare services; - Housing and Accommodation support; -Unemployment issues; -Irish and UK passport applications; -Funeral arrangements; -Repatriation of deceased persons to Ireland; -Community events; -Social networking and building connections; -Irish Language and cultural activities; -Volunteers to assist with all needs. IASAQ is here to help with a friendly and non-judgmental voice from home, a cuppa tea or coffee and a welcoming smile for all Irish Australians who need our support. Our main areas of focus are families, the elderly, backpackers, education and the encouragement of its pursuit, new and established migrants and support for people sick or injured & their families. Celebration of the rich & varied contribution of the Irish Diaspora to the emergence and continued development of Queensland. Close links with the embassy in Canberra allow use to provide Passport forms and guidance.
