The IEC group develops materials and electrochemical processes for energy and environmental applications.
With regard to electrochemical energy production and storage, the IEC group is researching new materials for the production of hydrogen from water electrolysis and for redox flow batteries. In addition, studies are conducted on the behaviour of batteries and fuel cells for their diagnosis and control.
With regard to environmental applications, the IEC group develops materials for the electrochemical oxidation of recalcitrant organic compounds by means of advanced electrochemical oxidation processes, and electrochemical processes for the removal of pollutants and recovery of materials for reuse, contributing to the circular economy.
