IFRA-Nigeria is one of the 27 public research institutes (UMIFRE) under the joint supervision of the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs (MEAE) and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
The Institute was created in 1990, first as an antenna of the Centre de Recherches, d’Echanges et de Documentation Universitaires de Nairobi. Over the years, it took its independence and today, together with IFRA-Nairobi, IFRA-Nigeria is part of the UMIFRE 24, and forms the UAR 3336 of CNRS.
Our goal is to promote excellent research in social sciences and the humanities, and to further collaboration between scholars in France, Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Liberia, Gambia, Niger, Chad and Burkina Faso.
As part of our mission we promote research, offer grants, publish our own research and hold workshops, seminars and conferences.

• Axis 3: Dynamics of heritage and environment
• Transversal axis: Digital Humanities
