In March of 2010, IMC Island launched Alterna, a new company offering local mobile service in Iceland. Branding itself as an alternative to the two prevailing carriers in the area, Vodafone and Síminn. Alterna’s service plans include free incoming calls and texts, free in-network calling and text, and affordable international calling.
