Imkerei Grune Overview

We are a professional apiary near Cottbus in Brandenburg. We operate in locations in Berlin and Brandenburg and produce regional, organic honey as our main product. The preservation of biological diversity is of particular concern to us: We are part of the network for the preservation and reintroduction of the European dark bee originally native to Northern and Central Europe. The subspecies of the western honey bee, botanically known as Apis Mellifera Mellifera, has been displaced by introduced subspecies from other regions since the 19th century and can only be found in a few protected areas. Through our queen breeding, we try to build up domestic, locally adapted colonies of European dark bees. We do this without dogmatism and respect that other subspecies such as Carnica and Buckfast are now also native to our region.
