Royal Imtech N.V. 1860 – 2015
The company started in 1860 and in 2001 became stock listed. In the following 10 years, the company rapidly expands with an increased turnover from 2 billion euros in 2001 to 5.5 billion euros in 2012. In that period, 86 companies have been acquired and the total amount of employees all over the globe rose to approx. 29,000.
However, the company could not keep up with the fast growth. Early 2013, Imtech announced major financial irregularities in Germany and Poland that resulted in a total loss in 2013 of 696 million euros. In the following 2,5 years, a new Board of Management with a largely new management team faced the challenge to rebuild the company. A firm recovery program generated several times the necessary additional financial resources, but it could not ultimately prevent the worldwide declining operating results and in August 2015 the bankruptcy of the holding. The vast majority of Imtech's Divisions such as Imtech Marine, Imtech Traffic & Infra and the Country Divisions continued under new ownership.
