In the Streets a D.C. based nonprofit dedicated to interrupting patterns of generational trauma in Washington, D.C.
We achieve this by:
- Treating burnout and trauma in service providers to improve their ability to care for communities
- Working with parents to prevent passing trauma to their children
At In the Streets, we treat the body and the mind, knowing that we are each more than the body and more than the mind. Our in-depth efforts are based in reflective practice and body-based healing.
Our vision is to improve how we serve traumatized individuals and communities.
- We envision service providers who are committed and trained to heal traumatized individuals, and who are cared for themselves.
- We envision holistic support for mothers to interrupt intergenerational trauma and create healthy and happy future generations.
By healing both service providers and those whom they serve, we believe we can shift the landscape of service provision. We aim to work towards a model of comprehensive care that prioritizes the well-being of both service providers and the communities they serve.
