QISA is the largest cultural organization at Queen's University. We are a network of students who are united by a common interest or connection to South Asian culture. QISA offers several opportunities catering to the interests of all our members. Our mission statement is to create a home away from home for countless students here in Kingston. We organize the largest cultural formal on campus, a night full of South Asian culture, complete with authentic Indian food and dance. QISA is especially proud of its award-winning competitive Dance Team, which brings together individuals of different backgrounds, religions, and talents to create dance performances for both national competitions as well as performances around the Kingston area.
QISA aims to enhance the social, cultural and educational experiences of its members through a wide variety of activities, tied together by themes of common heritage. We pride ourselves on welcoming members from every corner of the globe: a diversity that illustrates the cultural richness of India itself. Our widely popular social events, community service efforts in Kingston and dance workshops are just a few of the activities that the club has to offer. Many of these events, like Diwali or QISA Formal, have become a fundamental tradition of Queen's itself.
April 2020 Update:
QISA will no longer be ratified, and will join under the umbrella of the Queen's South Asian Association club to better serve the interest of the Queen's community. Through this decision, we hope it will provide more opportunities to students to engage in South Asian cultural activities.
