Indigenous Amazon Global Alliance

Indigenous Amazon Global Alliance company information, Employees & Contact Information

Deforestation is occurring at an alarming rate due to cattle ranching and soybean production for domestic and international consumption fuelled by government subsidies to large companies. The indigenous tribes have suffered from illegal logging and mining on their lands. IAGA plans to help 5-6 tribes in the states of Rondonia and Mato Grosso, (some 4 million hectares), to earn revenue from their land to preserve the forest. It will also guide small farmers on privately held contiguous land, (to be some 6 million hectares) to adopt similar techniques. The forest is a global “asset” as it regulates the climate, crop production, north and south including affecting many countries. The solution, (which is being executed in small areas), comprises the sustainable cultivation of high-earning cash crops such as coffee, brazil nut collection, regulated diamond mining, timber extraction and carbon sequestration phased in to cover as much land as feasible.
