Industrial Design ASU Overview

We turn creative ideas into successful projects for society. #ASUInDMovingForward The BSD in industrial design at The Design School prepares students to envision the future by ideating, iterating, developing, testing, and prototyping new products, services, and strategies. Students use interdisciplinary learning to turn creative ideas into successful projects for society. Our students have a strong commitment to the environment and the human being; they center their approaches on delivering solutions that are beneficial for society, with a strong sense of humanity, empowered by the latest trends and technologies, always looking to get a positive impact on every scale. At the Bachelor level, Our curriculum develops a strong foundation of design skills through lower-division studio and lecture courses. Upper-division studio courses allow students to collaborate and address design challenges, professional projects, and case scenarios. To balance the classroom theory, industrial design students also follow an internship program to add periods of practical, hands-on experience before graduation. The MID in industrial design is a studio-based program in which students learn to design new products, systems, services, experiences, or businesses envisioning the future. The program includes a design trip as a unique guided learning experience in which students visit places like Tokyo and Milan. The MSD helps students develop an understanding of contemporary design issues and develop skills by conducting specialized research. It also prepares the graduate student for a career in industrial design education.
