Inmediahk.Net Overview

Established in 2004, inmediahk.net has operated as a non-profit citizen media, free of influence by government, parties or corporations. Our aim is to raise the awareness of issues often overlooked by mainstream society, and advocate the values of diversity and equality. Besides covering issues that concern most citizens, we also cover issues which are less popular but related to public interests, including labor rights, gender, women and ethnic minorities. Besides producing content ourselves, our site also provides a platform for citizens and organizations to voice out their concerns. We also endeavor to promote community news - with over 7 million people living in different communities in this tiny Hong Kong, community news often receives little attention in mainstream media. We strive to put more manpower in reporting community news, set up workshops and assist different communities in establishing their own community newspapers, diversifying the media landscape. Moreover, our main aim includes promoting the development of citizen journalism. We have a regular internship programme, allowing students to have a taste of being a journalist, improving civic media literacy.
