We are the Women in STEM Society at Brunel University London; also known as Innovia! We were established in 2012 and are still growing as a society.
The Innoiva: Women in STEM which is a society at Brunel University London promotes women in STEM fields with networking, talks and communication. There is a still a large gender gap in the STEM industry which can lead to women feeling alone and their voices not heard.
We aim to bridge that gap and provide support and connections with industry so that the transition from university life to the workplace is a smooth one. We do this by working closely with WIBEC, Women in Brunel Engineering and Computing and getting speakers from those mentors and also from industry.
There is also a trip every year to a STEM site abroad which exposes students to the possibility of different career paths and the breadth of STEM. There is also an annual winter networking event which help create contacts with industry and even placements have come from it.
