Inspiring the Future is an exciting new programme for schools across Aotearoa.
At an Inspiring the Future event, young people hear from volunteers about different jobs and why people love doing them, and how those people got started in their careers.
Inspiring the Future has been created to broaden young people’s horizons, help challenge stereotypes and address unconscious biases that can limit their potential.
The programme is based on research from Aotearoa and oversees that shows the narrow aspirations of young people, and the strong biases based on gender, ethnicity and socio-economic status that exist at a young age. Read the research inspiringthefuture.org.nz/our-research/
We need people from all walks of life to sign-up as role models. No matter what your role is or the journey you took to get there, if you enjoy what you do you will help young people to understand the world of opportunity that awaits them.
And it only takes a few hours of your time, once a year!
