The Inter-African Coffee Organisation (IACO) was created in 1960, with the aim of showing the essential role of coffee in the socio-economic development of Africa. It is an organisation that comprises: Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its mission is to support the industrialization of the African coffee sector and position it as the origin of specialty coffees in the minds of consumers around the world.
To support its mission, it relies on (04) four strategic objectives which are:
Provide a platform for dialogue and policy alignment to support the development of African coffee in Member States,
Coordinate coffee research and implementation in Africa,
Create and strengthen awareness of African coffee development and promote the participation of public-private partnerships in Member States, and
Build and strengthen institutional capacity to provide strategic leadership, guidance, and support for coffee development in Africa.
