The Internal Trade Secretariat (ITS), a federal incorporated not-for-profit organisation, is responsible for supporting the functioning of the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) in a neutral and independent manner. It supports interprovincial negotiations, administers internal trade disputes, and generally serves the Committee on Internal Trade (CIT), a ministerial group with representatives from the federal, provincial and territorial governments.
The CFTA is an intergovernmental trade agreement that came into force on July 1, 2017. Its objective is to reduce and eliminate, to the extent possible, barriers to the free movement of persons, goods, services and investments within Canada and to establish an open, efficient and stable domestic market. It commits all Parties to a comprehensive set of rules that will help achieve a modern and competitive economic union for all Canadians.

Le Secrétariat du commerce intérieur (SCI) est un organisme sans but lucratif incorporé en vertu des lois fédérales du Canada. Il est chargé d’appuyer le fonctionnement de l’Accord de libre-échange canadien (ALEC) de manière neutre et indépendante. En plus d’encadrer les négociations interprovinciales et de gérer les différends portant sur le commerce intérieur, il assiste de façon générale le Comité du commerce intérieur (CCI), un groupe ministériel composé de représentants des gouvernements fédéral, provinciaux et territoriaux.
L’ALEC est un accord intergouvernemental commercial qui est entré en vigueur le 1er juillet 2017. Son but est de favoriser un commerce interprovincial amélioré en traitant des obstacles liés à la libre circulation des personnes, des produits, des services et des investissements à l’intérieur du Canada, et d’établir un marché intérieur ouvert, performant et stable Il engage toutes les parties à l’égard d’un éventail de règles qui favoriseront une union économique moderne et concurrentielle au bénéfice de tous les Canadiens.
