The International Network for Disengagement and Exit (INDEX) is a pioneering initiative led by the Violence Prevention Network (VPN), Germany’s leading NGO in the field of preventing and countering violent extremism. INDEX is the first global professional association dedicated to practitioners in tertiary prevention—deradicalization, disengagement, exit, and rehabilitation. It is built on principles of shared ownership, shared values, and human-centered design, and aims to elevate the field through professionalization, collaboration, and advocacy.
INDEX provides members with access to a digital knowledge hub, monthly online meetings, case consultation calls, newsletters, and best practice exchanges. It supports practitioners through training, supervision, and peer learning, and advocates for the profession with policymakers, academia, and other sectors.
INDEX is actively growing its membership base and planning in-person events starting in 2026. It seeks to become the global standard-bearer for tertiary prevention, shaping a cohesive, recognized, and well-supported professional community.
