What if every kid saw themselves as a problem-solver and leader? At Invent the Summer, we spark creativity, problem-solving, and leadership through hands-on STEM challenges designed by kids, for kids. Founded in 2019 by 11-year-old Peter Mok, Invent the Summer began as a fun summer project and has grown into a thriving nonprofit. Our youth leadership team helps drive our mission to inspire young minds and shape the future of STEM. Our Programs include: Online STEM Challenges – For eight weeks each summer, kids (12 and under) tackle weekly design challenges that build creativity, independence, and hands-on engineering skills. Accessible online, these challenges engage families nationwide, fostering problem-solving and innovation. In-Person STEM Workshops – We believe every child deserves the opportunity to explore STEM—regardless of background. Many students face barriers like limited access to materials, lack of adult guidance, and a shortage of engaging, affordable STEM programs. Our workshops break down these barriers, providing hands-on learning in a supportive, structured, and flexible environment that sparks curiosity and builds confidence. Youth Leadership Development – Our Junior and Senior Boards of Engineers empower middle and high school students to take an active role in STEM leadership: ✔ Junior Board (Grades 7–9): Designs, tests, and presents challenges. ✔ Senior Board (Grades 10–12): Mentors younger students, writes newsletters, facilitates workshops, and gains hands-on leadership experience. This full-cycle mentorship model not only cultivates future engineers and innovators but also develops strong, confident leaders. Get Involved!
