Investours is a startup non-profit organization that leverages the resources generate by tourism to promote economic development in communities surrounding Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. We bring small groups of tourists to engage with local artisans who handmake traditional products like woodcarvings, dresses, and foods. This is an authentic cultural experience that tourists can feel good about because we use 100% of tour proceeds to support the artisans we meet with interest-free loans disbursed through our partner microfinance institutions.
Our mission is to provide travelers in Mexico and Tanzania with meaningful cross-cultural interactions that empower micro‐entrepreneurs so that their small businesses can develop their own communities. While our primary focus remains our Microfinance Tours, we also offer a variety of programing related to the tourism industry, including Fair Trade Markets, Microfinance Immersion Programs, and on-site internships. These initiatives not only support the local economy, but also provide travelers with real and meaningful cultural experiences.
