Created in 2009, the ITACET Foundation is a non-profit organization whose aim is to organize, promote and sponsor training and continuous education actions in the field of Tunnelling and Underground space use. The training activities organized by the Foundation are mainly aimed to ITA-AITES Members, young engineers, geologists, consultants, administrative manager, policy makers… The Foundation use an international network of more than 100 lecturers, renowned specialists coming from the academic and industrial world. Since its creation, the Foundation organized 28 training and education actions, principally short courses and seminar. It trained around 3000 students in 20 countries. The Portfolio of the actions organized by the Foundation is developed by the ITA-CET Committee of ITA-AITES. At the moment it counts 17 topics, among them Innovation in Tunnelling, Mechanized and Conventional Tunnelling, Health and Safety during Construction, Underground Space Use, Principles for Tunnel Design. At the moment of its creation, the Foundation has been promoted by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space association ITA-AITES as its executive body for education and training actions.
