• Millions of pounds of grease are washed off 5th wheels in this country every year. This not only has a huge impact on the environment causing water pollution but is also extremely costly to haulage and logistic businesses.
• It is critical to apply the correct amount of grease. Insufficient grease poses the risk of friction, welding the 5th wheel to the king pins and plate which will then need to be replaced. The over application of grease results in significant wastage as it is either pushed off by the trailer or washed off by rain/road spray.
• Slipliners generally last for 3 years or 400,000kms.
• Below please see an illustration of the cost saving benefit this is based on an engineer/mechanic being paid £12 p.h. and taking ½ an hour to clean the air lines, couplings 5th wheel and trailer plate then re-grease using 400grams of grease.
