Jan 22 Productions is an award-winning indie entertainment production company centering Black women storytelling. Its Founder and CEO is actress Tai Brown. Jan 22 Productions was established in January, 2022 after the lack of centering of monoracial medium to dark skinned Black women with natural tightly coiled hair on TV and film. Its named after the birthdate of Tai Brown, January 22, to serve as a remembering that regular Black womanhood stories deserve to be shared, seen and celebrated, that our existence in itself is worthy, simply because we were born!
Our first project under our Jan 22 Productions banner is Tongue In Cheek, a short film Executive Produced, Directed, Written and Starring Tai Brown. Tongue In Cheek has screened in theaters all around the U.S.A during its 2023 Festival Run Tour. Our film also had a 1 Week Distribution deal on the Love Wins Channel. Jan 22 Productions is 1 out of 4 winners from thousands of applicants to receive the 1st ever 10K SheaMoisture 2023 Blueprint Grant. The award included a mentorship meeting with Tina Knowles. Tongue In Cheek is viewable on our Youtube channel @Jan22Prods starting February, 1st, 2024. Our sophmore short film is in pre-production and will serve as a Proof of Concept for our hit TV series.
