I am a 54-year-old Consultant Psychiatrist and Director of Janet Meehan & Partners Limited, a private Medico-Legal practice. My business was established in 2015. Before this, I worked as an NHS psychiatrist.
Myself and my colleagues provide medico-legal reports for clients/ claimants/ parents going through civil, family or criminal Court proceedings. There is an emphasis on personal injury work including catastrophic injury and head injury.
As my business has grown, I have recruited over 20 consultant psychiatrists to whom I allocate legal instructions. I pride myself on providing medico-legal reports in a timely manner and of a consistently high standard. I oversee and mentor my consultant partners to ensure that their work meets the same standards. Peer support and career development are important aspects of my practice.

Since the pandemic, many assessments of clients can be conducted remotely. We also offer face-to-face assessments including home visits and prison visits where appropriate. My consultant psychiatrists have been individually recruited by me and I look for qualities such as sensitivity, empathy and good communication skills as well as professional expertise. Consultants are offered feedback on their report writing. Consultants are also available to give oral evidence in Court, should this be required.
