Jazanne Arts place older people at the heart of our work, using creative arts and reminiscence to improve wellbeing, resilience and quality of life.
Jazanne Arts runs 4 main programmes:
Golden Voices: Participatory arts groups for independent, isolated older people in Enfield and Newham, targeting Caribbean elders, but working across London diverse communities, giving them a voice, raising confidence, reducing isolation and improving wellbeing. They are facilitated to research, write and perform in their own plays and films. We also promote older artists, giving them employment and opportunities in the arts.
Joyful Connections - Regular fortnightly sessions for people living with mild to advanced dementias, from the Parker Day Centre in Enfield, supported by independent older volunteers, using music and song, drama, movement, reminiscence and poetry to improve wellbeing and confidence and spread joy.
Building Bridges: Older people and children come together to do theatre projects based on reminiscence and heritage themes, celebrating place and identity.
Touring Theatre: Professional touring, interactive reminiscence theatre for older people. Shows are based on stories shared by diverse older people. Shows focus on working class people living with dementias and Caribbean elders across London care homes, day centres and clubs, spreading joy, acknowledging and valuing older people, keeping their stories alive. We do 1 -2 tours per year visiting 20+ later life venues per tour.
