The JB Marks Education Trust Fund was established in 1997 by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) for members and their beneficiaries. The Trust funds beneficiaries' full tuition, registration, text books, accommodation, meals, bridging courses, extra lessons and capacity building programs.
JB Marks students are not obligated to repay the Trust upon completion of their studies, furthermore, they can study towards any qualification at any of the approved Universities in South Africa, Mozambique, Lesotho and Maputo.
JB Marks Education Trust Fund is a registered Trust in terms of Section 6 (1) of the Trust Property Control Act, 1988 (Act 57 of 1988). It has six board members with a variety of expertise from different industries. The Financial Year-End is 31 December.
