Due to the lasting importance of migration for the European Union (EU), for Türkiye as the country hosting the highest number of migrants globally, and for the EU-Türkiye Relations, the Jean Monnet Chair MMEUTR aims to centralize teaching and research in legal aspects of migration management in the EU and in Türkiye both inside and outside Bilkent University. The teaching activities aim to promote the number of EU-related courses in the curriculum of Bilkent University, to create awareness of European subjects among its students and researchers, and to establish a forum at Bilkent University for teaching, research, and academic discussion on legal aspects of migration management and international protection at different levels in a comprehensive, comparative, and systematic manner. Non-teaching activities share the general objectives to disseminate the knowledge and expertise of the project team on EU law and policies and migration management and international protection to all the stakeholders beyond Bilkent University; to foster dialogue between academia and other stakeholders as well as between Bilkent University and other universities.
