Jonathan Tanner Overview

For over thirty years we at Academy Media have been making programmes about history, literature, music and languages with the hope of helping individuals to develop and enrich themselves. Our programmes, comprising mainly two series, Famous Authors and Famous Composers, can be found in bookshops, schools, colleges and libraries throughout the world. Our Dickens DVD is the official DVD biography at the Dickens House Museum in London, The British Museum used our Keats programme as the centrepiece of an exhibition on the Poet and many of our titles are stocked by The National Portrait Gallery and The National Theatre shops. Translations of various titles are being undertaken; the German version of our Goethe is widely distributed to German schools, colleges and libraries by LinguaVideo. Recently, we have started producing dramas, the first of which, Ibsen's 'Ghosts', is now available on DVD. The Good Book Guide summarises our Famous Authors series thus: "Drawing on old maps, contemporary drawings and paintings, portraits and other archive material, the excellent Famous Authors series not only presents a factual outline of the writer's life, but also conveys a clear visual picture of the social and historical background to his or her writing. Recommended for all ages."
