JoyKC exists to serve as a place of belonging and friendship. We believe that this model not only increases the social capitol of our participants (i.e. increased quality of life, increased life span), but also holds the potential to dissemble and change outdated perspectives regarding people with disabilities through the context of relationship. At JoyKC, we want people to walk away knowing that they are loved and fought for.
JoyKC Nights occur on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at Community Covenant Church.
All events are free. Each night has a unique theme (ex: Sweetheart Dance, Talent Show, Minute to Win It) with various activities, crafts, and games. A typical event will also include a brief time of worship and a message about Jesus.
At all JoyKC events, we offer a one-on-one buddy system for those who may benefit from that level of support/ engagement. All volunteers are trained by JoyKC staff and have successfully passed background check requirements.
