Judo is a dynamic martial art sport incorporating both physical and mental disciplines. Judo, meaning ‘the gentle way’, originated from Japan in the late 18th century, and has been represented at the Olympic Games since 1964. Judo consists of cleanly gripping one’s judo uniform ‘Judogi’ and yielding the opponent to the ground by applying technical forces of balance, power and agility.
Who are we?
Judo NSW is a not-for-profit sporting organisation run mainly by volunteers (300+) with over 2000 participants (known as Judoka) from 55+ clubs statewide.
Judo NSW is the State Sporting Organisation governing the sport of Judo in NSW and is supported by the Australian Sports Commission and NSW Department of Sport & Recreation.
