I am Julio Cesar Osorio, a Colombian-born, UK-based artist whose journey—from migration to incarceration to international recognition—has shaped my creative vision. My work explores resilience, identity, and social justice, using art to challenge perceptions and amplify unheard voices. Growing up between Colombia and the UK, I struggled to reconcile my dual identity, an experience that fuels my work today. During incarceration, art became my salvation, revealing its power to heal and inspire change. This realization drives my practice, shaping projects that document both personal and collective struggles. Why Follow My Journey? My work is more than art—it’s a movement. Through photography, film, painting, and multimedia storytelling, I explore vulnerability, resilience, and human connection. Some of my key projects include: 🔹 "Work, Play, and No Rest" – A five-year photography documentary book on childhood in developing countries, housed in the British Library. 🔹 "The Female Body as a Canvas" – A bold exploration of women’s experiences through body painting. 🔹 "The Golden Years" – A portrait series honouring the elderly, earning the Honorary Exhibitor Award at the 2023 Visual Artist Association Awards. 🔹 "Desire" – An abstract series examining human behaviour surge in consumption of adult porn during the pandemic. On release my painting Minuscule Beauty was selected by Benjamin Zephaniah for the Southbank Centre’s We Are All Human exhibition poster. I’ve been honoured with the LUX Global Excellence Award (2023 & 2024) and SME Greater London Enterprise Award (2024). I support underrepresented artists and run educational workshops with vulnerable communities. I am also open to commissions, community projects, and collaborations that align with my mission of using art as a catalyst for change.
