Kannada Pustaka is a voluntary initiative creating accessible Kannada textbooks. We apply Kannada optical character recognition OCRA, and speech synthesis software to create Unicode textbooks in Kannada. Our books are sent to schools for visually challenged across the state of Karnataka.
We are proud to be the first distributed proofreading initiative from India and probably the first speech synthesized audio podcast from India. Our volunteers correct OCRed textbooks and create clean Unicode chapters that are further processed and converted to synthesized audio formats. We also make these textbooks available as Braille format (unformatted Braille format).
We believe in open access free content and all our content is free and open to use for differently abled students and teachers. Visit our website to know more, proofread and contribute in creating digital Kannada content.
