Dr. Uddin is dual board-certified in psychiatry and internal medicine, licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. He is originally from New York City and attended the University of Rochester in upstate New York for his undergraduate education. He went on complete his medical school training at Ross University School of Medicine. Admittedly, Dr. Uddin initially wanted to become a surgeon but quickly came to realize that this was not personal enough for him. He promptly changed his focus to internal medicine, particularly primary care, as forming long term relationships with patients is what drew him towards medicine. As he moved along his medical training, he noticed the overwhelming prevalence of co-morbid psychiatric illness in patients with co-morbid medical conditions. Tragically, however, the underlying psychiatric conditions are often overlooked. This did not sit well with Dr. Uddin. In order to best serve patients, being proficient in both medicine and psychiatry seemed vital. With this goal in mind, Dr. Uddin pursued a highly competitive dual residency in both internal medicine and psychiatry at the University of Kansas Health System. He credits his unmatched training at KU for providing him the tools necessary to deliver integrated patient care so desperately needed at times like these.
