The KI Familie is the joint group on AI technology topics for automated and autonomous driving. Several collaboration research projects are part of this group. KI Familie and its projects were initiated and developed by the VDA Leitinitiative Autonomous and Connected Driving. More than 90 leading partners from science and industry are involved in these projects funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action
The first generation of AI projects that are part of the KI Familie includes KI Absicherung, KI Delta Learning, KI Data Tooling, and KI Wissen. Building on this foundation, the second generation of AI research projects was established, including just better DATA, nxtAIM – NXT GEN AI METHODS, and Safe AI Engineering.
Classic automotive challenges are re-emerging in the context of AI. Expertise in artificial intelligence and its safe application in modern vehicles will be key to securing a leading position in the mobility markets of the future.
The German automotive industry has taken on this challenge with the projects of the KI Familie. With their thematic complexity and interconnected structure, these projects are establishing comprehensive AI expertise across the entire spectrum of automotive applications.
