KlickSports, Inc. was a mobile sports gaming company started in 2006 and ceased operations end of 2009. Based in Los Angeles, KlickSports raised a friends and family round in 2007 and a significant Angel round in early 2008. KlickSports began developing a platform (see patent and technology below) that ran over SMS. Starting with SMS based gaming the company debuted it's game at the ALAMO Bowl of 2006, just six months after inception. The game at the ALAMO Bowl was an in-venue sms game fans could play along with the game on the field by picking a team and submitting answers to real-time generated questions in relation to the events on the playing field. The event was in partnership with AT&T, Steve & Barrys, and other brands as sponsors. The game was announced on the jumboton and with subsequent updates on scores and winners. That launch was considered a resounding success for KlickSports and the brands involved - with measurable data on post-game sales. The subsequent year KlickSports was contracted to execute the game at 6 other Bowl venues. KlickSports cut deals with many brands, teams and even sports bars. In 2007 KlickSports launched an interactive screen and system that would plug in to any AV system at sports venues and Bars. The game also was active in 2008 with FOX NBA pre season games, partnered with GOOGLE on the launch of OpenSocial, launched a Facebook App, and one of the first iPhone as well as Android Apps. The game was featured at every Dodgers home game at Dodgers Stadium during the 2009 seaso The company's game and technology was based on a patent the founders Jose' da Veiga and Kent Jordan had filed in 2000. The patent had been awarded in 2005 and was considered to be significantly valued, and has been cited in many subsequent patents by companies such as Sony, Microsoft, and Sega. The patent consisted of 16 claims including a broadcast publish-subscribe system that was scaleable to tens or hundreds of millions of concurrent players.
