Initially the institution was Mrs. Keoke Monroe Perin Memorial School, popularly known as KMPM School, and was established on June 21, 1915. It was the first ever school to be established in the Steel City of Jamshedpur.
Originally, it was a courthouse which was later converted into a school and had Hindi and Bengali as two mediums of study.
Over the years, the School has undergone many changes. In 1986 Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO); that is now known as Tata Steel, turned it into an Intermediate College for the wards of their employees.
It was later adopted by the JUSCO Education Mission (JEM) foundation to turn into a Vocational College in July 2010.
Since then, it is referred to as Mrs. KMPM Vocational College. On the other hand, JEM Foundation is a registered trust established in 2008 by Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (JUSCO); which is now known as Tata Steel Utilities & Infrastructure Services Ltd.
The college is affiliated to Kolhan University, Chaibasa, Jharkhand.
