Knärzje – All taste. Zero waste. In other words: Drinking beer while making the world a better place. With the first German zero waste beer, brewed with surplus bread. Hence the name "Knärzje", because this term comes from Hessian dialect and means the end piece of a loaf of bread. For us, however, the Knärzje also symbolizes food waste. Unbelievable, but true fact: Two million tons of baked goods end up in the garbage bin every year, although they would still be perfectly edible. This is why for us the Knärzje is not just and end piece, but the center piece of a very special beer. In the Middle Ages people already called it "liquid bread" – today we take this term literally and throw bread intended for the ton into the brewing kettle in order to enable enjoyment of a special beer while reducing food waste.
