Knowledge for Public Health is the NIHR National Institute for Health and Care Research-funded public health knowledge mobilisation team. KNOW-PH for short, the team aims to move research evidence generated by NIHR closer to local and national public health decision making.
Firstly, the work is Co-productive. We work with knowledge users to mobilise evidence that meets their needs for populations, policy or practice.
Our community partners, AFRUCA are leading community involvement.
All the work we do will attempt to support the goal to reduce health inequalities.
We will be Creative by using different, digital and real world art and design inspired methods to bring evidence to life.
The programme has two main arms.
The first is focused on responding rapidly to evidence need. This rapid response work will include projects that last between 3 to 6 months and will include partnerships with local and national government.
We will focus on a topic of their choice which best supports their work. Examples include healthy planning, air quality and mental health in schools. that will support their work.
The second arm is focused on deep coproduction. We will work closely with local government partners over an extended period of time to deeply embed evidence in decision processes.
Creative coproduction methods might include working with the performing arts, engaging in creative digital design and using Lego serious play.
