Kolopehtuwan-Mip Turning Leaf Foundation (KMTLF) is an Indigenous-led nonprofit organization based in Sitansisk (St. Mary’s First Nation). Established in 2010 under the guidance of the John Howard Society of New Brunswick, KMTLF was created by a volunteer board composed of traditional Elders, band council members, key professionals, and community leaders. As Canada’s second Indigenous affiliate of the John Howard Society, KMTLF officially incorporated in 2012. Since then, the foundation has built a comprehensive network of culturally grounded care, addressing critical issues in health, justice, housing, and social challenges. Guided by traditional teachings, ceremonies, and values, KMTLF is committed to fostering healing, reconciliation, and self-determination for Indigenous individuals and communities. With ongoing support from Infrastructure Canada, aligned with the Reaching Home: Canada’s Homelessness Strategy Directives, KMTLF continues to strengthen its vital programs, ensuring sustainable and culturally informed solutions for generations to come.
