The Kurdistan Development Corporation Limited (KDC) was an initiative established jointly by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and international business people to advise on, develop and implement micro and macro development projects within the stable and prosperous region of Iraqi-Kurdistan.
The remit of the KDC falls between politics and business development and, as such, the KDC was an Investment Holdings and Promotions Agency; working in close conjunction with the Kurdistan Regional Government to identify and implement projects that accelerate the redevelopment of Iraqi-Kurdistan and, as part of this, determining appropriate investors and global companies with whom to work. The KDC is also working closely with Kurdish and regional Iraqi businesses looking to establish links and relationships with international business for supply, investment and joint venture opportunities.
The KDC had offices in London and Erbil (both independently and within the KRG Ministry of Housing), with outreach posts or personnel in Dohuk, Suleimani, Baghdad and the US (Boston & Washington ).
The KDC Board was complemented by a committee established by the Office of the Prime Minister, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani. The Chairman of the Board was the UK High Representative of the KRG in London and the Iraqi Ambassador to Holland, Mr. Siamand Banaa. Other members of the KDC Board included the Iraqi Ambassador to the UK, Dr. Salah Al-Shaikhly, a UK Government Official, Mr. Thomas Hardie-Forsyth, as well as advisors and businessmen with extensive international business experience and knowledge of the region.
In this regard, we had initiated endeavours in areas such as banking, land development, franchises, commodity trading, airlines, security, e-government solutions, insurance etc.
