With the ongoing cutbacks in regional media, the north east is in real danger of losing an independent voice on local arts and public affairs. Launching on 5 April 2010, KYEO.tv - an interactive north east-centric web publication - aims to plug this gap by providing information on society and arts-related news and events around town, as well as offering a guide to the more subversive side of local culture and politics. Utilising the latest online technology, the site will feature audio and video interviews with local and touring artists, musicians, writers and politicians as well as regular live broadcasts through a dedicated HD video channel. Staffed by a team of journalists, designers, videographers and photographers with a keen interest, knowledge and passion for the north east, KYEO.tv will deliver dynamic, opinionated editorial that aims to create a digital democracy by championing independent voices.
