The Lagos Water Partnership (LWP) is a platform leading the development and delivery of an investment vision for Lagos water security. The platform is where the key public and private sector players come together to reflect, plan and stimulate the implementation of the development and investment agenda for the water resources sector in Lagos.
Under the leadership of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MOE&WR), the Partnership builds on the existing global and local agenda to drive its investment vision of water security in Lagos State including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Lagos State THEMES Plus Agenda, Lagos Resilience Strategy 2020, Existing 14 Model City Plans, Lagos State Development Plan 2022 – 2052, Lagos Climate Adaptation & Resilience Plan (LCARP 2024), Lagos State Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) Policy 2024 and the Lagos Climate Action Plan 2020 – 2025.
The objectives of the LWP include fostering collaboration and synergies among existing efforts, especially National and State level climate and water resources sector strategies; Crowding-in additional efforts and finance, including the private sector; Building an evidence base, targeted capacity and systems to attract large-scale investments; Evidence base (through demonstration projects) for new and innovative private participation models (examples are municipal/green/sustainability-linked bonds, credit enhancement facility) for the water resources sector in Lagos.
