Langston University, is one of our great and historic institutions of higher learning. It has the high distinction as being a Land Grant University and one of only nineteen such Universities in the United States that was given the Land Grant status in the 1890. The School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (SAAS) has evolved in many ways since its inception in 1897. It is a venerable constituent of Langston University and seamlessly upholds the Land Grant mission of Academics, Research, Community Engagement and Outreach. The research, outreach and community engagement programs are highly regarded and are engines for economic growth in Oklahoma. We possess state-of-the-art research facilities; highly regarded faculty members and we continue to diligently build upon our capabilities. The work we do impacts a wide array of people’s lives, ranging from food and fiber production, natural resource management, youth development, health, agribusiness management and small business development. We go to great length to ensure that we positively influence the lives of people from all walks of life. The School offers several baccalaureate degree programs in various agriculture disciplines as well as in family and consumer sciences. In those programs, we ensure that students receive a unique enriching academic experience and a lifelong career, which not only ensure that they will be successful in their individual lives, but contribute tangibly to community and socioeconomic development in their own special ways. We work very closely with students to develop individualized career paths, leadership qualities and instill self-assurance in them. Many of our graduate are now making invaluable contributions to society. Academic programs in the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences cater to all qualified students but we go to great length to be of service to under-served populations in Oklahoma, the United States, as well as other parts of the world.
