The story of Laura Chavin begins with Helmut Bührle, a Swabian grand seigneur and tobacco
entrepreneur. Whilst studying marketing and design, he was already involved in his mother's tobacco
business, which dealt in raw tobacco.
After completing his studies, Bührle worked for Hermès, Enrico Coveri, Christian Dior and
Zino Davidoff, among others. In 1992, he began developing and founding his own premium cigar brand
and named it after his daughter - Laura Chavin. The first cigars bearing the Laura Chavin name were
produced in the Dominican Republic and presented to the tobacco world for the first time at Intertabac
in Dortmund in 1998. The Laura Chavin brand quickly became a symbol of exclusivity and top quality.In 2017, Willi Knopf, a successful entrepreneur from the creative and marketing business, took over the
Laura Chavin Cigar Company. This was followed by the establishment of the company's own tobacco
and cigar production facility near Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic.
