About Us - History In 1984 four men had a vision that has shaped not only a company, but also the careers and successes of today’s top business leaders. The men were Ken Shelton, Stephen R. Covey, Ken Blanchard, and Charles Garfield. The idea was to redefine how businesses were conducted, how people were motivated, and how success was achieved—all in the pages of a monthly magazine called Leadership Excellence. At the time, these men headed upstart companies, but they had sound ideas that they believed would transform the business world. They were right.
