Learning in Geography, Humanities, Technology and Science (LIGHTS) has been working from 2003 onwards. LIGHTS believes that scientific education is the key to knowledge and wisdom. It has brought technical education, such as Geospatial Information System (GIS) and Automatic Weather Station (AWS) training to the doorstep of many schools and colleges helping build capacity of teachers and professors. High level scientists have helped in putting together these training making it a state-of-the-art event.
LIGHTS also holds training of senior governmental officials under PARI.
Also relevant is LIGHTS' high-level conferences and workshops that has helped modulate programmes and policies of the Indian government, especially related to Himalaya-Arctic-Antarctic cryospheric sciences. Its bi-annual event Science and Geopolitics of Himalaya - Arctic - Antarctic (SaGHAA) has earned global repute.
LIGHTS is also engaged in producing a journal (140 issues till now), Geography and You (in Hindi and English), which has 0.9 million readers and good subscription base.
