Successive Tory and Labour governments act as though they can micro-manage every aspect of our lives - what we can read, say and think, what we can eat and drink, and even how we ought to spend our hard-earned money.
From vanity projects to overseas aid, rampant inefficiency, corruption and a swollen bureaucracy from here to Brussels all combine to flush as much of our cash down the drain as possible - and with zero accountability for politicians who consistently mess everything up.
We believe that the State exists for three purposes: to defend the life, liberty, and property of its citizens. It exists to prevent theft and fraud, murder and assault - in short, to prevent material harm between peoples. It does not exist to arrest people for gambling or taking drugs. It does not exist to artificially raise prices through tax and regulation. And it certainly doesn't exist to help bloodthirsty American presidents to bomb the Middle East.
In action, a libertarian candidate will always seek to put you, the individual, first. We will ensure that decision-making is as close and accountable to you as possible. We will never seek to take more of your hard-earned cash if even a penny can be saved instead by reducing spending. Most importantly, we will never presume to know what is best for your life or your business, and will seek always to ensure public policy maximizes the freedoms you are entitled to by right.
