We opened our venue in Brussels in December 2004, shortly after Hungary’s accession to the EU. Formerly known as the Balassi Institute, now the Liszt Institute, we operate as the Cultural Service of the Hungarian Embassy and we are the most important mediator of Hungarian culture, education and science in Belgium.

▪ through the concerts, exhibitions, movie screenings, dance and theatre performances and literary events we present the diversity of the constantly renewing Hungarian culture
▪ we link up Hungarian and international artists, academics and audiences, and encourage cooperation between cultural professionals, and inspire more people to visit Hungary
▪ we are an active member of EUNIC, the network of European Union National Institutes for Culture
▪ we work regularly in collaboration with Belgian cultural institutions
