Little Big Prints is an all-female youth organization of volunteers founded in 2014 with a mission to inspire girls to aspire to tertiary education and post-secondary school career opportunities.
LBP primarily engages girls and young women as they are most affected by negative socio-cultural norms and gender inequalities, which often limit their potential achievements in different spheres of life. LBP engages, supports, and equips girls and young women to improve their educational outcomes and livelihoods. This is achieved by providing life skills and education advancement mentorship to underserved youth in secondary schools and professional development to young women who mentor the underprivileged youth. The volunteer mentors are female UNIMA students and other young women.
Since 2014, LBP has worked in seven schools in rural Zomba, Malawi, and nine schools in urban Zomba, successfully mentoring over 650 secondary school girls. LBP has also implemented two one-off initiatives with primary schools that had over 400 pupils in attendance. LBP has developed the professional capacity of over 80 mentors, with nine of them going on to volunteer as staff after graduating.
